Hostas
Hosta sp. are an intriguing group of plants for the woodland garden. Use as ground cover or edging. Pair with astilbe, corydalis, or ferns for an enticing contrast of textures. Plant in dappled shade in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Enrich soil with compost or aged manure before planting. Will require supplemental watering in dry weather.
